The Piano Shop was founded by John Minor and Al Friederich in the fall of 2018 after the
passing of Steve Schmidt, founder of the Piano People in Champaign, Illinois. Both John and Al
shared a long friendship with Steve and greatly admired his commitment to excellence, exacting
standards, intelligence, and integrity.

Piano restoration has many levels from simply new keytops to a complete restoration with refinishing. Whether you have a family heirloom, or a Steinway in a professional venue, we offer the finest in all levels of piano rebuilding. We are experienced in restoration for the home, school, or concert hall.
We offer piano tuning for home, church, school, or concert hall. Regular tuning is highly recommended for a better sound piano overall.
Our dedicated movers have over 40 years of experience in piano moving. We specialize in piano moving, both local and regional. Licensed with the Illinois Commerce Commission authority ILCC 225032 MC.
